Kai Langford is a 2023 C/RHP/1B with a 6-5 195 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Bellaire. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and some present physical strength with additional room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, deeper crouch behind the plate in drills, receives the ball out front with softness to hands, sound transition with a longer path, gains good ground with lower half and shows nice arm strength and accuracy down to second base. Clean actions around the bag at first base as well, consistent fielding skills, quick pivot and plays with balance and under control, nice strength on throws. Also pitched, smooth and easy operation on the mound, long arm action through the backside and does a nice job of staying connected while showing fluidity in actions; three-quarter release point, simple operation and up to 85 mph with fastball. Mixed both a curveball and changeup around the zone with comfort. Right-handed hitter, begins with a slightly open base and a balanced set up, quiet actions prior to launch. Incorporates physical strength well, controls long limbs well in swing and shows ability to generate leverage and lift the ball to all parts of the field. Longer path overall through the zone and occasionally gets uphill, but shows big impact strength to pull side, nice tools to build upon. Good student. Named to the South Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
