Caleb Shofner -- Shofner is a lean and projectable sophomore catcher from Texas who shows signs of being a top hitting prospect. He hits with a no load, no stride approach and generates very good bat speed for his age. The ball jumped off Shofner’s bat in both batting practice and in games. Along with his 3 game hits, Shofner just missed a couple of other pitches that he would have driven hard. This young man has some loft in his swing and he's going to get more than his share of extra base hits as he gets older and stronger. Shofner is a very good athlete with live body actions and close to average big league speed. His arm strength is short right now for being a premium catching prospect but he has time to improve that. If Shofner doesn’t catch, his athletic ability will enable him to play many other positions well. Shofner comes from a baseball family and is sure to get plenty of repetitions and lots of work over the next few years. Caleb is a good student.
