Kyle Moats is a 2019 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Fresno, CA who attends St. John Bosco. Large frame with long limbs, broad shoulders and present strength. Frame projects for continued size with strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a smooth paced side step delivery. Stays tall and balanced on back side and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate on front side and carries momentum through finish well. Deep arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball had solid downhill plane through the zone with some running action to arm side in the low to mid 80's topped at 85 miles per hour. Showed good feel for fastball offering and consistently worked to each edge of the plate. Shortens arm length with a curveball offering that had 1/7 shape with late break when staying on top. Aggressively attacked hitters throughout each inning of work while changing speeds and inducing weak contact. Also worked out defensively from first base showing athletic footwork while centering the baseball and pivoting to second base. Fluid glove actions while funneling and working through exchanges. Released form a three-quarters arm slot producing accurate, on line carry across the infield. Right handed hitter with a very spread, even stance. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Simple, direct hand path with a naturally leverage barrel plane through extension. Swung with intent and showed present bat speed and strength at contact. Primarily worked to the middle of the field and pull side gap producing hard, loud contact with tight backspin and carry. Named to the 2017 Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student as well.
