J.P. Sanders is a 2019 3B/RHP/C with a 5-10 195 lb. frame from Tuscaloosa, AL who attends Tuscaloosa Academy. Medium frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary third baseman with smooth paced footwork while working to and surrounding the baseball. Funnels cleanly and worked through exchange well. Released from a compact arm slot creating on line carry to the bag at 80 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an open stance. Displayed good hand quickness through the zone on a line drive plane. Present bat speed and showed strength at contact when squared. Looked to work to the middle of the field with the ability to split the gaps. Also pitched showing a small rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball generated occasional cut to glove side in the upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with shorter downward depth in the upper 60's. Looked to work ahead of hitters with fastball before utilizing breaking ball later in counts. Very good student.
