Jackson Skellett is a 2020 C/RHP/1B with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Carlsbad, CA who attends Carlsbad HS. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, plenty of room to develop physically moving forward. Ran a 7.51 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, slight side saddle behind the plate during drills, receives the ball out front and shows a quick transfer, over-the-top release point, gets tall at release and can continue to incorporate additional lower half into gaining ground and into release. Also pitched and showed nice potential moving forward; compact arm action through the back, quickness to arm and repeats. Velocity continued to climb through outing, topped out at 80 mph, shows running life and filled up the strike zone. Slider shows nice tightness to rotation, mixes it well and lands for strikes up to 69 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright and narrow start in the box with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Gets closed with lower half moving into contact with gliding leg lift trigger; shows quickness to hands and able to generate whip to the barrel through the zone.Stays short to the ball and creates leverage while working to his pull side, some barrel tilt at start. Good student.
