Hiro Waye is a 2019 LHP/1B with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Wayland, MA who attends Wayland High School. Medium build, lean, slender frame, long limbs, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically. Primary left handed pitcher, very high leg lift over waist, online delivery, first base side of the rubber start, deliberate delivery, and threw from an over the top arm slot. Looked to work inside on right handed hitters with a short stride to the plate, and limited lower half drive. Fastball worked 64-67 mph with sink to the lower third. Would see velocity improve with additional lower half drive to the plate. Should work on keeping pitch low in the zone. Also showed curveball with 1/7 shape on the mound with big depth and developing spin. Also worked out as a hitter, started with an open stance and big leg lift timing mechanism. Longer swing through the zone, developing bat speed, and a very twitch oriented swing. Worked with a pull side approach at the plate. Outstanding student.
