Michael Callia is a 2018 RHP with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Renton, WA who attends Kentridge HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Right handed pitcher with a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays slightly flexed with coil over back leg at gather. Utilized lower half well while working to the plate with drop and drive actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a loose three-quarters slot. Fastball showed good running action to arm side in the mid 70's to low 80's, topped at 81 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/5 shape with good spin and hard depth when staying on top of offering. Effectively changed speeds with the ability to mix off speed in all counts. Consistently repeated arm action and mechanics allowing for good command to each edge of the plate. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
