Joseph Wiersma is a 2020 RHP/1B with a 6-4 205 lb. frame from Orange, CA who attends Orange Lutheran HS. Tall and strong frame on the mound. Works from a three-quarters slot with some medium arm action and some present arm speed. High leg lift with a simple drop and drive delivery with arm action that is simple and focused, works around the plate with all three pitches. Showing a fastball at 84-88 miles per hour and two quality secondary pitches. Curveball has 11-to-5 break with good movement. Slows arm some on the curveball but the mix of speeds and late action is enough to keep hitters off balance. Flashed a changeup at 77 miles per hour. Excellent student. Named to 2019 Sunshine West Showcase, Top Prospect List.
