Brian Montanez is a 2018 SS/2B, 3B with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Arroyo, PR who attends Natividad Rodriguez Gonzalez. Large build, lean and athletic frame with a high waist, projectable with plenty of room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.00 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well laterally with mostly clean footwork, gathers well into throws, sure hands with a developing backhand, good arm strength with plenty of carry and good accuracy, topped out at 84 across the diamond. Righthanded hitter, wide base with a spread out stance, high hand set with a high back elbow, short leg lift trigger, short hand path to the baseball, would like to see the lower half utilized more for added bat speed and power, line drive and level barrel plane with a line drive approach. Good student.
