Lars Mitchell is a 2007 RHP/3B/1B with a 6'3'', 200 lb. frame from Suwanee GA, who attends North Gwinnett HS. He has a tall and strong body that could get really strong with more work. Mitchell has a low effort delivery and a short compact arm action. He releases the ball from a high 3/4's point and could get better extension out front. Mitchell's fastball topped out at 83 mph with excellent 2 seam running action. His 68 mph curveball had a fair 2 plane break and Mitchell was able to throw it consistently for strikes. He settled in really nicely and improved his stuff and feel the more batters he faced. Offensively, Mitchell is corner infielder who shows plenty of promise with the bat. Like his pitching style, he has a short swing and doesn't get much extension out front but everything works smoothly for him with little effort. His strength gives him bat speed and the ball jumped off his bat with some authority. He's got some loft in his swing and should be able to reach the fences, especially on pitches inside. Mitchell is a good looking player on both sides of the ball and will be a valuable player at the next level. He is also a good student.
