Sam Punzi is a 2017 C with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Eastampton, NJ who attends Gloucester Catholic HS. Compact thick build, has very good present strength. Right handed hitter, very aggressive approach at the plate, hits from a narrow open stance, has short and quick hands to the ball, uppercut swing plane, creates spin, does a good job of handling the barrel and making contact, like the aggressiveness but may benefit from a more level swing plane, hits to all fields. Has quick actions behind the plate, gets rid of the ball quickly on his throws with compact actions, can improve footwork and direction for better accuracy, works hard behind the plate and is a high energy player.
