Ryan Clayton is a 2018 1B/OF with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Santa Maria, CA who attends Ernest Righetti. Large frame with broad shoulders and a strong build. Primary first baseman with clean footwork while centering the baseball. Funnels out front and works through exchange well. Generated good momentum into throws and released from a three-quarters slot. Produced accurate carry across the infield topping at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance and deep hand load. Lower half works to contact with rotational actions. Loose, extended path to contact with a level plane through extension. Consistently looked to turn top hand to contact and work to the middle of the field and pull side. Flashed some jump off the barrel to pull side when on time and squared. Excellent student.
