Tyler Steeland is a 2020 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-0 162 lb. frame from Mount Pleasant, SC who attends Wando HS. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, simple side step into delivery, gets tall on back side with leg lift up to belt, strides down the mound and lands slightly cut off. Full arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release, gets on top of fastball well and works both sides of the plate with comfort; topped out at 72 mph with short running life to arm side. Flashed curveball at 62 mph. Also played first base, charges in hard on the ball, fields out front, shorter arm action on throws across, comes through the ball with lower half, shows accuracy on throws. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide and even stance, high hand set and low back elbow at the plate, lowers hands at start of swing. Upper body dominant swing with linear plane, hits the ball out front and gets the barrel to the ball, occasionally gets under the ball at point of contact. Very good student.
