Mason Johnson is a 2023 3B/RHP, SS with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Hueytown, AL who attends Oak Grove. Recorded a 7.40 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, well-proportioned frame with room to fill out. Primary third baseman with athletic actions throughout the fielding process, good lateral range to either side and enough arm strength to stick on the left-side of the infield. Exhibits aggressive approach, funneling cleanly out in front with soft hands. Shows ability to throw from multiple arm angles, while recording arm strength up to 83 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher; simple delivery with deliberate pace, slightly coiled leg lift and cross-fire release. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s for the majority of his outing, topping out at 79 mph in this look from a three-quarters arm slot. Displayed good mound composure despite battling command issues, will continue to improve with refinement of his mechanics and additional maturity. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, even stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and toe-tap trigger. Simple, repeatable swing with consistent bat-to-ball skills, present bat speed and barrel accuracy. Gap-to-Gap approach with ability to use the whole field when needed, flashing good extension out in front. Solid overall skill set that will continue to expand as he fills out and matures. Good Student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
