2017 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Caiden Bruns is a 2019 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Rochester, MN who attends Lourdes. Large frame with solid, athletic build and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a compact rocket step to medium leg lift delivery. Up tempo actions while working through delivery and stays tall on back side at gather. Utilizes lower half while driving to the plate with drop and drive actions. Medium arm circle straight back at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed occasional arm side run to the inner edge of the plate topping at 82 miles per hour. Tends to low arm speed slightly with a curveball offering that showed 11/5 shape with softer spin and some depth. Flashed a changeup with good sinking action down in the zone with an arm speed that matched fastball offering. Showed the ability, and willingness to pitch backward and double up with off speed pitches. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Hands launch on a loose, extended path to contact with an uphill plane through extension. Generated very good barrel whip through the zone that produced good bat speed and strength at contact. Baseball jumped off the barrel very well creating loud, hard line drive contact to the middle of the field. Projects higher as a position prospect at this time. Good student.
