Tommy Butler is a 2009 MIF with a 5'9'', 140 lb. frame from Alpharetta, GA, who attends Alpharetta HS. Named to the Top Prospect Team. Butler has a lean and athletic looking frame with projection. Defensively he has quick feet in the middle infield with good body control. Butler has a quick release and an accurate throwing arm. During the showcase games, he made several very good plays at SS, 3B, and 2B. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from an open stance. Butler has good bat speed and made consistently solid contact to all fields. He centers the ball well with a quick line drive swing. Butler is also a patient hitter with a good eye at the plate. He projects as a top of the order hitter who will consistently put the ball in play with good bat head skills. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm and solid mechanics. His fastball topped out at 78 mph with arm side run. Young player with upside, and he is a very good student as well.
