Tyrone Simpson is a 2019 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Flossmoor, IL who attends Homewood Flossmoor. Medium frame with a lean build and long legs. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a low three-quarters slot. Fastball came out of hand clean flashed some downward tilt through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Cruveball had 10/4 shape with loose spin and occasional depth. Flashed better bite with breaking ball when maintaining arm speed through extension. Primarily looked to work ahead of hitters early with fastball and utilize breaking ball as a put away pitch. Also worked out defensively from first base showing deliberate footwork while centering the baseball. Developing glove actions while funneling and working through exchange. Released from a three-quarters slot created on line carry across the infield at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a balanced, even stance. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational actions. Deep hand load and works to baseball on a loose path. Level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed some bat speed with strength at contact. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but flashed the hand quickness to turn the barrel and work to pull side as well. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
