Brayden Welch is a 2023 SS/2B, OF with a 5-9 130 lb. frame from New Braunfels, TX who attends Canyon Lake. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, gets low moving towards the ball and fields it out front with a wide base, works into a short and compact arm action on throws, mostly upper body release and can continue to incorporate additional footwork through the ball, arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright and open stance with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a toe tap into a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Loads hands lower at start of swing, swings with intent and best when working on a linear plane. Occasionally mistimed with weight shift and plane but shows ability to work to all fields, full swing path through the zone.
