Andrew Okamoto is a 2020 3B/RHP, 2B, SS, OF with a 5-7 150 lb. frame from Salt Lake City, UT who attends Cottonwood. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.32 sixty-yard dash. Primary third baseman, travels low to the baseball with athletic footwork. Clean, athletic actions while rounding and funneling the baseball out front. Very quick, smooth exchanges while working through transition and primarily released from a three-quarters arm slot. Flashed the ability to change arm slot and throw while accuracy while on the run. Right handed hitter with a balanced, open stance and high back elbow set. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Direct, compact path to contact with a naturally leveraged plane through extension. Consistently barreled the baseball with present bat speed through the zone. Primarily worked between the gaps, but showed the hand quickness to turn the barrel and work to pull side with authority. Also pitched showing a clean delivery with drop and drive lower half actions to the plate. Baseball came out of hand cleanly from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball had slight sinking action with occasional run in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Consistently located fastball offering in the bottom quadrants of the zone. Also showed a curveball with proper shape and depth in the upper 60's. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Excellent student. Named to the 2017 Rocky Mountain Showcase Top Prospect List.
