Jess Ackerman is a 2021 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends North Forsyth. Large build with present strength. Ran a 7.76 sixty-yard dash. Left handed pitcher. Utilizes a small side step to high leg lift. Showed a slight coil over back leg at gather then working to the plate with drop and drive mechanics. Employs a clean arm circle releasing from a loose three-quarter arm slot. Displayed fastball with solid downhill tilt through the zone topping out at 80 miles per hour complemented by a curve-ball with a two-eight shape and tight spin and depth and a changeup with sinking action at 69 miles per hour. Displayed the ability to pitch backwards during outing as well. Showed a deeper funnel with loose clean exchanges at first base. Flashed smooth hands while centering the ball. Displayed good arm strength topping out at 74 miles per hour across the infield. Left handed hitter. Utilizes an slightly open upright stance with a big leg kick and a high hand and back elbow set up. Employs a downhill bat path in a line drive spray approach. Displayed the ability to drive line drives through the infield during batting practice. Showed good lower half mechanics and quick hands creating good bat speed. Good student.
