Christopher Barker is a 2006 OF from Naaman Forest HS, residing in Garland, TX, with a 5'11", 160 lb. frame. He is very athletically built and has a projectable, baseball type frame. In each part of the game Barker displayed good body rhythm. He hits from a square stance and has a nice pre-pitch load of his hands, getting in good position to hit. Barker is a line drive type hitter. He has good balance throughout his swing and shows off a good hand path. He is short to the ball, with a bit of a downward type swing plane that allows him to create some backspin. In time, with more strength Barker is likely to start driving the ball into the gaps with some carry. He makes consistently solid contact and stays in the middle of field well. On defense has quick feet and is capable of good jumps in the outfield. His set up to the ball is good and he has a quick release. The ball exits his hand well and the leverage in his arm stroke suggests that as he gets stronger, Barker could develop above average arm strength. Not a burner but Barker gets down the line well (4.34) with usable baseball speed. He is a solid all-around player with projectable skills and a body that has yet to physically mature. That physical maturity will enhance tools. Barker is a strong spring follow for the D1 level.
