Ian Gannaway is a 2021 LHP/OF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Westfield, NJ who attends Westfield. Primary pitcher with a medium frame and a young developing pitcher's body, slender and lean, 8.07 runner in the 60. Slower and deliberate tempo through the delivery with a higher leg lift and minimal lower half transition to the plate, creates slight crossfire step to the target. Hides the ball well in back with a small arm circle before delivering through a higher 3/4 arm slot and reaching a full follow through to the plate. Fastball shows slight arm side run to it, sitting in the middle-to-upper 60's, topping at 70 mph. Curveball has bigger breaking action with 1/7 shape and is used as a freeze pitch. Throws strikes and stays around the zone. In the outfield he shows easy and fluid actions to and through the ball, builds momentum to throw with a full arm action and smooth transition, developing arm strength with present accuracy to the bases. Hits from a narrow, slightly open and upright stance, with a high hand set and an elevated back elbow. Utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing and creates weight shift into contact, swing has slight lift through the zone and a middle-of-the-field approach at the plate. Flashes the ability to use the whole field and create leverage out front with hard barrel contact. Good student.
