Clay Spencer is a 2023 C/1B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Hoover, AL who attends Spain Park. Ran a 7.27 section sixty. Primary catcher with a medium athletic build. Works around the ball out of the crouch with quick feet and hands as he transfers at the mid line. Gets to a taller throwing position showing average arm strength with accuracy to the bag at second and showed it in game action as well. Right-handed hitter, starts slightly open and gets back to even with a simple stride and load creating separation pre swing. Showed some juice to the pull side with an ability to create leverage and catch the baseball out front. The barrel control showed up in game action as well with the same kind of intent driving the baseball hard to the pull side multiple times. Excellent student. Named to the 2022 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
