2023 WWBA Workout Showcase (Wed)
AJ Barahona is a 2024 C/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 5-8 185 lb. frame from Tyrone, GA who attends Konos Academy. Strong, physical build in a compact frame with type of durability you look for in a primary position catcher. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.85 seconds. Sets up low and game like in his primary stance and moves quickly with his feet to throw. Midline transfer that is clean leading to his compact arm action. Throws are accurate and on the bag but the overall arm strength is still developing. Generated throws up to 72 mph on pop time best 2.15 seconds. Reps at 1B showing comfort around the bag and solid glove action. Making plays and accurate feeds up to 75 mph here. Switch hitter. From the left side, loads deeply into his backside with small leg lift to get started. Strength in his hands creating lofted impact with some hop. Barrel accuracy needs to go a bit. From the right side, same start and load to backside and more controlled to stride. Early action to get going and works more on plane from this side creating low, line-drives. Intriguing skill set for a catcher, especially being a switch hitter. Outstanding student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
