Tomas Rodriguez is a 2020 LHP/OF with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from Stuart, FL who attends John Carroll Catholic. Medium and athletic frame with a high waist. Ran a 7.33 second 60 yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, works exclusively from the stretch on the mound, takes his arm back to a quick arm action up to an over the top arm slot, creates a downhill plane to the plate with his fastball sure to arm slot, lower half works well to drive off of the rubber and get down the mound, repeats well and fills up the strike zone. Fastball topped out at 80 mph with frequent armside run, spots the fastball up well to either side of the plate, mixes in a curveball with tight spin and downward bite in the low-70s, maintains arm speed on his secondaries, changeup shows similar life as the fastball. Secondary outfielder, gets on top of throws and stays quick with his arm, topped out at 79 mph from the outfield. Lefthanded hitter, sets up at the plate with a narrow base and a high hand set, creates a level swing plane staying compact and inside with his hands, patient approach at the plate. Good student.
