Gavin Maines is a 2024 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Yadkinville, NC who attends Forbush. Medium athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Easy leg raise to start his delivery, in line medium length arm action, fairly quick pace, hides the ball effectively in back, high front side creates some downhill pull out front and nice lower half torque, repeats his mechanics well. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, had consistent life both cutting and fading. Curveball was a solid second pitch with good depth and spin, also showed a change up with some cutting action. Threw lots of strikes and mixed his pitches well, projects to throw harder as he gets stronger. 7.45 runner in the sixty. Played first base when not on the mound and showed very good athleticism at that position. Left handed hitter, has an early pre-stride to start his swing, segmented swing, rotational upper body swing, swings hard and looks to pull and lift the ball. Very good student. Named to the Carolina Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
