Preston Ewing is a 2021 RHP with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Collierville, TN who attends Briarcrest Christian. Medium frame and athletic build. Right-handed pitcher that works strictly out of the stretch. Throws from a deceptive arm slot and hides the ball very well. Uses an offline arm action and stays tall in his delivery, leaving the upper body a bit too stiff. Fastball topped at 85 mph with late life and arm side run. Throws a hard slider at 79 mph with cut action that moves well when it's low in the zone. Struggled with command at times but was very effective when he threw the fastball low and inside to right-handed hitters. Drops into his back hip and drives down the mound. Really works the fastball on the inner half and generates plenty of swings and misses on it. Solid prospect with a lot of upside as he continues to develop a more consistent off speed pitch. Excellent student. Named to the 2020 Fall Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
