Drew Beckner is a 2021 OF/LHP with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Westerville, OH who attends Big Walnut. Strong, athletic build with room to fill out. Ran a 6.86 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary outfielder. Displayed aggressive, athletic actions working to and through the baseball in the outfield. Flashed clean glove actions fielding the baseball of the front foot. Creates good momentum into throws with good arm strength and accurate carry to the bases topping out at 82 mph from the outfield. Also worked out defensively at first base. Displayed the ability to work around the baseball with clean footwork. Showed confident glove actions with low out front funnels. Flashed clean transfers into throws with good arm strength topping out at 80 mph from first base. Left handed hitter. Employs an upright slightly open stance with a leg lift trigger and high hand set up. Utilizes a middle to opposite field approach with present bat speed and barrel control creating consistent line drive jump off the barrel when on time and squared. Also pitched at the event. Employs a small side step to belt high leg lift staying slightly flexed at gather going to drop and drive actions down the mound. Lands online with the plate and stays online with the plate through finish. Displayed a long, loose arm action going to a mid three-quarter slot at release with good arm speed. Flashed a fastball with heavy lefty run up to 80 mph complemented with a 1/7 breaking ball with sharp break and developing control at 69 mph. Great student. Named to the 2019 Ohio Valley Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
