Matthew Thompson is a 2022 RHP/MIF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Spanish Fort, AL who attends Spanish Fort. Recorded a 7.47 second 60 yard dash time. Athletic build with a lot of length to the frame. Primary right-handed pitcher with a short arm action, throws from the ear. Works down in the zone with good run on the fastball. Nice spin to the curveball, very competitive on the mound. Secondary shortstop with a passive approach, sits back and rounds the ball some. Deeper funnel, taps at exchange, drops slot on the run. Smooth at SS during the games, solid defensive actions and range. Athleticism really takes over in the field and on the mound. Right-handed hitter with an even start and knee to knee lift. Deep bat tip to load, pulls the hands in nicely. Barrel plays out front with solid accuracy, improved as the round went. Great student. Named to the National Underclass Showcase- Main Event Top Prospect List.
