Alberto Macia is a 2020 LHP/1B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Naples, FL who attends St. John Neumann. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary left handed pitcher who worked primarily from the stretch. High leg lift and stays balanced at gather. Works to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Tends to land at a slightly closed position with front side creating some crossfire at release. Fastball came out of hand cleanly generating short run back to arm side in the low to mid 70's, topped at 76 miles per hour. Curveball had looser 1/7 shape with occasional depth in the mid 60's. Displayed developing feel for the strike zone, showed best command when maintaining tempo and repeating arm action. Also worked out defensively from first base clean footwork and glove actions while working through the baseball. Compact arm stroke and with arm whip at release. Throws produced some on line carry across the infield topping at 72 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with a slightly crouched, slightly closed stance and simple front side trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to contact with an naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Consistently worked to the middle of the field but also flashed the hand speed to turn barrel and work to pull side as well. Excellent student.
