Austin Atkins is a 2020 C/OF/RHP with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Trenton, IL who attends Wesclin HS. Medium athletic build with good present strength. 7.52 runner, showed good receiving ability in the games, sets up well behind the plate side to side, handled a 90 mph pitcher smoothly and comfortably, arm strength still developing. Also played first base and showed good athleticism at that position. Right handed hitter, hits from an upright stance, loads onto his back side, short and direct swing with a bit of a downhill swing plane, contact approach, mid field to opposite field. Also pitched, pitches over a stiff front leg, throws his backside over, high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 74 mph, mostly straight, showed good feel for his curveball and change up and threw strikes. Very good student.
