Nathan Beaton is a 2020 2B/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Fenton, MO who attends St. John Vianney. Long, lean frame with a lean build. Projects to support additional size with strength. Primary second baseman with smooth paced, deliberate footwork while ranging to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and worked through transfer efficiently. Released from a three-quarters slot generating some carry to the bag at 74 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Direct hand path to contact with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Consistently looked to throw barrel head out front and primarily employed a mid field to pull side approach. Also pitched utilizing and short rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather with coil over back leg. Hid the baseball well at take back and released from a low, extended three-quarters slot. Fastball showed good run to arm side with slight sink in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Located fastball to each edge of the plate and consistently attacked hitters with offering. Curveball had 9/4 shape with looser spin and occasional depth in the mid 60's. Flashed solid feel for breaking ball with the ability to deliver for strikes in both positive and negative counts. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Outstanding student.
