2023 Preseason HS Prospect Showcase
Derek Castillo is a 2023 C with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Kissimmee, FL who attends The Vine Christian Academy. Medium build with plenty of room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with a short leg lift trigger that keeps him on time, showed fast hands and good present bat speed, hits to all fields with a line drive high contact approach, pretty polished hitter with the ability to drive the ball. 7.29 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, has some quick twitch actions behind the plate, gets rid of the ball quickly, can develop better footwork and direction into his throws. Bat is his present tool. Good student.
