Jonathan J Velez Pagan is a 2021 C/3B/IF with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Little River, SC who attends North Myrtle Beach High. Compact frame with room to fill in the build. Ran a 7.32 second 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, worked out behind the fish goof footwork, repeats his actions well, strong transfers to a quick and compact arm action that generates carry on throws to the bag with accuracy. Also worked out in the infield with soft hands receiving close to the body, plays with high energy and some arm strength on throws across. Righthanded hitter, shows good feel for the barrel working to either gap and shows some lift at contact from use of the hands while generating good carry off contact. Very good student. Named to 2020 Atlantic Coast Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
