Rowan Donels is a 2023 RHP/1B with a 6-5 204 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends John F Kennedy. Tall and lanky frame with a high-waisted build that has tons of projection. Primary right-handed pitcher, has lowered the slot to a lower three- quarters with a short and compact arm circle, loose and whippy arm with speed. The fastball was 88-91, up to 2363 RPM, and showed more run, wasn't afraid to challenge hitters on the hand with the pitch. Gained feel for a sharp slider with late cut and depth when thrown to the glove side as the appearance went on. Spun the slider up to 2512 RPM. Settled in well and threw strikes in his second inning of work. Also showed a change-up. Exciting pitcher with a high ceiling. Excellent student. Iowa commit. Named to the 2023 National Pre-Draft Showcase Top Prospect List.
