Collin Young is a 2019 1B/3B with a 6-0 200 lb. frame from Savannah, GA who attends Islands. Medium build with present strength in frame, ran a 7.85 60 yard dash. Primary first baseman, fundamental at the position, developing soft hands with tendency to stab at ground balls, developing footwork and quickness, easy double play turns to the right side of the base, short arm action on throws, peaked at 74 mph from first base. Righthanded hitter sets upright, wide base with a slightly open stance, hands start low, slight bat wrap prior to load, hand coil at load with a high back elbow, small leg lift trigger into swing, some strength in the swing with developing bat speed, level downhill barrel plane, line drive approach to all parts of the field, rotational with a limited lower half and could see improvement with additional lower half involvement, sprayed ground balls to both sides of the field, hits the ball deep in hitting zone. Excellent student.
