Alex Philpott is a 2023 RHP/1B with a 6-5 170 lb. frame from Tampa, FL who attends Strawberry Crest HS. Extra large frame with long limbs, a lanky build, and loads of room to add strength. Primary right-handed pitcher who only pitched during the event. Abbreviated windup with a small side step and simple, repeatable mechanics. Three-quarters arm slot with a medium arm action featuring good whip and arm speed. Hides the ball well and fastball gets good riding life in the 87-90 mpg range. Curveball showed power downer bite to it in the upper-70s with swing-and-miss execution and upside. Changeup showed some fading life to left-handed hitters. Can manipulate shape of spin well and as a relatively new pitcher prospect the upside is extremely substantial given the physical ability. Great student. Verbal commitment to Florida.
