2019 Northwest Prospect Showcase
Tanner Vaughn is a 2021 RHP/3B/IF with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Chehalis, WA who attends Chehalis High School. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather while hiding the baseball well. Worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions. Showed a quick three-quarters arm slot at released creating heavy jump through the zone in the mid 80's, topped at 87 mph. Curveball displayed tight 10/5 shape with late depth in the low 70's. Also flashed a changeup offering that created some fade to arm side in the low 80's. Consistently attacked hitters and showed the ability to locate each offering the the edges of the zone. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing smooth paced footwork while rounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange efficiently. Displayed good arm strength across the infield with carry, topped at 82 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and toe tap trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Flashed some hand quickness with strength at contact. Created loud contact off the barrel when squared with good carry to the gaps. Named to the 2019 Northwest Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
