Jason Castillo is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Yonkers, NY who attends Salesian High School. Medium athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 5.11 40-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, short side step moving into a high leg lift above belt, gathers on backside at balance point, incorporates lower half well in drive down mound. Short arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point; works on top of the ball well and pounded the zone, filled it up with fastball, topped out at 81 mph, mostly true in life. Able to miss bats, worked glove side corner repeatedly. Lived in lower-third and mixed in a true 12-6 shaped curveball with tight rotation and depth up to 75 mph. Shows athleticism in the outfield, fields the ball out front, whip to arm action through the back, some effort at release, shows carry on throws when on top of the ball. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing, subtle weight shift through lower half. Upper body dominant swing, stays short with swing path through the zone, gets the barrel out front at point of contact. Comes off the barrel well when squared, worked the middle and pull side parts of the field. Good student.
