Wesley Wilson is a 2007 C/IF with a 6'1'', 189 lb. frame from Lexington KY, who attends Bryan Station HS. He has a solid frame and good athletic strength. Wilson has a solid collection of tools and skills for a catcher. He ran the 60 in a swift 7.05 and threw 73 mph during drills with a best pop time of 2.00. Wilson frames the ball well and has good carry and accuracy on his throws. He moves under control and is going to throw out runners in games. Offensively, Wilson has a calm, balanced stance and uses his strong hands to hit. He has a short swing with nice bat speed and stays compact to the ball. He had a high percentage of hard line drive contact and just like his catching, stays under control and balanced well. Wilson has some upside as a hitter he isn't tapping, as he gets little lower half involvement in his swing and in keeping his hands tight to his body he isn't getting the extension he could to add power. Keep a close eye on him, he's good now and has the chance to get even better. Wilson is also a very good student.
