Dan Sandbrink is a 2007 right hand pitcher from St. Louis Priory HS, residing in Chesterfield, MO. Sandbrink has a 6'1" 192 lb. frame with wide shoulders that will fill out and a well developed lower half. He ranked #76 among PG National Top 85 pitchers. Sandbrink is a physical pitcher. He pitches from an over the top slot and though there was some effort, he showed a clean arm action and good arm speed. His fastball topeed out at 90 mph though he settled into the mid-upper 80s range. His fastball has somes sink and got on hitters in a sneaky manner, suggesting that he has the stuff of a ground ball pitcher. That fastball is complemented by a slider that he kept down in the zone. Basically Sandbrink is a near classic sinker slider guy, the kind that could be very effective. His 74-75 mph slider has true slider shape with a little late biting action, just enough to get bats started and to force contact. Sandbrink's third pitch was a 78 mph change-up that also had some sink to it. He is a D1 caliber arm that will get some late round draft interest.
