Jorge Velez is a 2006 C/IF from Bayamba Puerto Rico with a 5'9", 205 lb. frame. Jorge has a strong body that profiles well behind the plate. Offensively Jorge shows a level swing plane, and good raw power potential. With more extension in his swing, Jorge could easily turn into a big time power hitting prospect. Behind the plate is where Jorge is at his best. He has a very quick release, and a strong accurate arm. He was able to consistently get pop times under 2.00 seconds. Jorge is already ready to play at the next level behind the plate, and with some refining in his offensive game Jorge should develop nicely into a power hitting catcher prospect at the next level.
