2021 13U Summer Northeast Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Austin Gilson is a 2026 SS/RHP, 2B with a 4-11 90 lb. frame from Cedarville, NJ who attends Millville. Recorded a 9.76 second sixty-yard dash time. Small, slender frame with plenty of time and room to physically mature. Primary shortstop with fundamentally sound footwork throughout the fielding process, a clean funnel out in front and some range to either side. Showed ability to change angles on the charge play, while recording developing arm strength up to 58 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher that works from an abbreviate windup with a belt high leg lift and short stride out to foot strike. Strike thrower that worked in the mid-to-high 50s for most of his outing, topping out at 58 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Mixed in slower breaking ball at 53 mph that showed gradual 11-5 shape to it and some tumble as it approached the plate. Will continue to improve with additional arm strength as he grows. Right-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and hover trigger. Whole field approach with elongated swing path, some feel for the barrel and occasional line-drives up the middle. Will continue to improve as he adds strength, fundamentally sound prospect with plenty of time to physically mature. Excellent Student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
