Chris Meza is a 2007 C/1B with a 6'1'', 238 lb. frame from Chicago IL, who attends Saint Patrick's HS. He has a thick and very strong build, similar to a football guard, but has surprising mobility for his size and is pretty light on his feet. Meza ran the 60 in 7.60 and threw 75 mph with a best pop time of 1.98 in catching drills. He showed some quickness in his release and good accuracy on his throws. He was a high energy/hard worker on defense during the games. Meza hits from a tall, balanced stance with a leg lift trigger and a full, aggressive swing at the ball. Meza pulls off and has a uppercut/pull swing plane. He's looking at the inside half of the plate and trying to drive the ball. Meza had trouble with off speed pitches and pitches outside during the games but is dangerous on anything on the inside half. His strength gives him bat speed and power potential. A more selective, adjustable approach could yield more benefits.
