Matthew Fernandez is a 2022 OF/LHP with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Cutler Bay, FL who attends Southwest Miami. Recorded a 7.73 second sixty-yard dash time. Smaller frame with present lower half strength and room to physically mature. Primary outfielder, displayed anticipatory footwork into the fielding process, fielding cleanly off his front foot and working into a slightly uphill release. Maintains momentum fairly well through release, while recording arm strength up to 74 mph in drills. Secondary left-handed pitcher that works from an abbreviated windup with good rhythm and tempo throughout. Fastball worked in the mid-70s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 75 mph in this look from a higher three-quarters arm slot. Mixed in developing breaking ball that varied in shape, displaying some gradual depth to it. Fair amount of strikes, pitching to contact successfully and sequencing his two-pitch mix. Left-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, slightly open stance with a high hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates small leg lift for timing, while using rotational lower half mechanics to create torque. Pull-side approach with elongated, round swing path and some feel for the barrel. Repeats swing mechanics effectively, producing occasional line drive impact when on time. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Good Student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
