2020 South Top Prospect Games at Texas A&M
Lino Rodriguez is a 2022 RHP/1B, 3B with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Austin, TX who attends Bowie HS. A long and lean, athletically gifted, quick twitch player, Lino has all the tools to impact the game at the next level. More importantly, Lino is also a high achiever in the classroom.. A primary RHP, Lino shows a sound two pitch mix that he commands and controls extremely well. He utilizes a very pure, smooth and consistent operation. His short takeaway and quick arm stroke, along with his H 3/4 slot help hide the baseball and add to his deception. Hitters appear to have a tough time picking up the ball. He pounds the zone with an active 82-85 mph fastball that shows solid arm side run and sink. His pitching style is very efficient. His breaking ball is more of an 11/5 sweeper that he can add and subtract velocity on. Lino also shows sound ability at 1B. His timing to field is excellent. His feet work quite well and he has soft and sure hands. His 81 mph throwing velo add to his ability to get his tosses quickly on target. At the plate, Lino shows some leverage in his swing path. He uses a higher, delayed, hanging leg lift. He shows plus strength in his hands. His natural swing path is geared more to RCF where he displayed natural pop and some emerging raw power. There is a lot to like about Lino's complete game, although his bright future will start with his ability on the mound.
