2021 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Gio Lugo is a 2024 RHP/ with a 5-7 160 lb. frame from Homestead, FL who attends Keys Gate Charter. Medium, thicker built frame with present strength and more to come. Ran the 60 yard dash in 8.80 seconds. RHP using a semi-windup delivery where he gets heavily into his base and generates tremendous energy down the slope. Separates his hands at the midline working into a short arm path that leads to a high 3/4 arm angle. There is nice arm speed here and he hides the ball quite well as he strides a touch crossbody creating additional deception. There is an ease and freedom to his delivery and he worked his FB consistently in the upper 70's and peaked at 80 mph. He worked both sides of the plate and his natural movement developed quite a bit of swing and miss. His secondary offering was a CB in the upper 60's with varying shape that showed mostly slurve like action. He tunneled this pitch well with his heater, threw it for strikes with regularity and created timing issues for opposing hitters. Excellent student.
