Andre Poirrier is a 2023 SS/C/UT with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Lafayette, LA who attends Notre Dame. Andre is a noticeably talented young athlete who shows a sound feel for the game. His work ethic and energy level should aide in his approach, as he gains strength, physical maturity, and exposure to play at a higher level. He has all the tools. In addition to being a noticeably gifted athlete and player, Andre also is a solid student as evidenced by his sound academic record. Andre ran an impressive 7.09 60 yard dash which is plus average for all players and is especially impressive for his age group. A primary infielder, Andre is very instinctive. He is light on is feet and his first step quickness to position is advanced. He shows soft hands and easy glove work that is consistent with individuals who play at a higher level. He transitions smoothly and surely and his 73 mph throws are routinely on line. His throwing action is pure. At the plate, Andre starts in an open stance and incorporates a bigger leg lift to close. When his timing is right, he shows an ability to strike the ball firmly. He uses the whole field and has a sharp and mature eye at the plate. Andre has a lot of upside to his game. Experience, exposure, and continued fundamental repetition are keys to his development.
