Joshua Carlson is a 2021 C/3B with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Moreno Valley, CA who attends Valley View. Strong athletic build, especially in the lower half. Right handed hitter, pull back load to start his swing with a gliding shift into contact, gathers and uncoils well, line drive swing with middle of the field orientation, repeats his mechanics well and consistently squares up the baseball, has some jump coming off the barrel. Projects well as a hitter. 7.95 runner in the sixty, has good arm strength behind the plate, gets rid of the ball quickly with a compact exchange. Took a turn on the mound, has a compact tight 3/4's arm stroke, fastball topped out at 82 mph, did a good job of throwing strikes. Good student.
