Elkin Ortiz is a 2023 OF with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Ponce, PR who attends Reborn Christian Academy. Medium athletic build with plenty of room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with a short and pretty simple swing, upper body rotational mechanics, flashed some power when he was squared up. Primary outfielder on defense, throws from a 3/4's arm slot with good extension and length. Has run a 6.95 at a PG showcase earlier this summer. Took a turn on the mound, works from the stretch with an extended low 3/4's arm slot, gets into his lower half well getting down the mound, tends to open early with his front side. Worked in the low 80's with his fastball, has been up to 85-86 mph at PG tournaments this summer, tends to work and miss glove side due to his mechanics. Only threw fastballs. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
